The Academy hopes to make a small contribution in keeping the glorious tradition of Hindustani music alive by enabling the public to access its archives of more than 2000 hours of music; rare renditions of deceased artists, living legends and upcoming artistes. A well-appointed music room enables scholars and music connoisseurs to discover the finer nuances of music that have faded from public memory. Visitors are encouraged to come with their gurus / tutors.
The Academy has commenced digitization of the music archives, which are presently in a number of formats ranging from 78 RPM lacquer records to cassette tapes.
At this not-for-profit centre, recordings are available for listening as under the normal conditions as found in a public reading library, i.e. for appreciation within the archive premises. Copying or public use of the recordings is not permitted.
