Kamaicha

The Kamaicha is one among the oldest bowed instruments in world literature. Made of a single piece of wood, it incorporates a spherical bowl extended into neck and fingerboard and a resonator covered with leather. The upper portion is covered with wood. Mainly there are four strings. There are some other subsidiary strings passing over a thin bridge. It is played with a bow, producing a haunting melody. Kamaicha is an integral part of Rajasthani folk music, mainly played by Manganiars.
